Therapy for Spiritual Crisis
The dark night of the soul comes just before revelation. When everything is lost, and all seems darkness, then comes the new life and all that is needed.
~Joseph Campbell
Lost.
You’re lost.
You used to have an idea of where your life was going, a sense of direction. You used to have some faith that something was guiding you.
But now, you’re seriously questioning what it all means.
Are you on the right track? How can you tell?
Desperately, you search. You long for the ease and faith that once comforted you.
But they’re nowhere to be found.
Confused.
You’re in trouble.
You don’t know how much to keep struggling and how much to let go.
Is this all some kind of lesson?
Hurt.
The path to surrender can feel painful.
Spirituality doesn’t take a linear course.
You experience ups and downs – times when you’re more in touch with something deeper and times when you question.
Moments of spiritual crisis can be some of the hardest because something that is so personal and meaningful suddenly feels less accessible.
It can feel like a part of you is missing.
Isolated.
You need support during these times.
Spiritual crisis is uniquely challenging, because it can feel so isolating. Not everybody gets it.
The dark night of the soul is a daunting journey – it can take you to the limits of what you can handle to bring you through to the other side.
But you’re not – alone.
Part of the journey is learning to let yourself be held by something more than yourself.
By someone. Someone who sees you – hears you – gets you, and what you’re going through.
Someone who’ll stay with you until you’ve found your direction again.
